: Announcements:

~ Pool Safety
A lot of homeowners are putting in pools.  For your children's safety, please talk with them about not going into anyone's backyard without and adult.

~Drive Carefully!
We have had several requests to ask everyone to please drive safely and SLOWLY through the neighborhood!  Especially during the summer months, there are a lot of people out walking and kids playing, so Please slow down and drive carefully! Thanks!

~Pets
We have received a few requests to make a note about pets in the neighborhood.  If you are a dog owner, please keep your dog on a leash.  We have some children who are afraid of dogs and there have been some dogs seen roaming the neighborhood unattended.

Also, please be courteous of your neighbors and try not to allow your pet to go to the bathroom in other people's yards.  If they do, please be courteous and pick up after them.

  • Antidotes
The Steeds were getting ready to leave on vacation and the oldest son filled the car with all the camping gear and got ready to go. A few minutes later, he returned, the tire was flat.  They decided to take the tire off to save time, since they were supposed to be meeting other members of the family in 15 minutes.  They looked every where for a station that could fix it... and finally got it done two hours later.  When they came back to put the tire back on... the entire lug nut sheered off!  Now they could neither get the tire off, or the rest of them on.   When the tire went in, it was found that there were FIVE nails in the tire!

Anyone else have nail problems with all the construction going on?

  • Brad Schwizer and Derek Steed Graduate From High School
  • The Steeds and the Schwizers are proud of their boys.  Brad just finished apprenticeship at HP, and is enrolled at Sac State.  Derek is currently attending the Cisco Certification Classes at Sierra College, and working full time.  Both boys play video games all night long, they are enjoying their leisure a little too much!
  • Needs and Requests
  • There is a rose tree on the divider across from Cooley Middle school that is dying. Does anyone know who is in charge of the landscaping?
  • Girls Night Out

Some women have expressed interest in getting together once a month to play Bunco.  If you are interested, contact Becky Barry to sign up or to get more details.

Several ideas have been suggested for girls nights out.  We have had scrapbooking parties, Pampered Chef parties, Longaburger parties, and even field trips around the area.

If you need a baby sitter, many are available in our neighborhood.  A neighborhood that takes care of its own, is a safe neighborhood.  It is said that a child is raised by a community.  Lets make sure that we know those who are helping us raise ours.

  • If you babysit or are available to do so, please contact one of the board members and we will make sure your services are listed in the Advertising section.
  • Hints and Helps
  • *To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola
over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

*. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the
    rusted bolt for several minutes.

*. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan,
wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham
is finished,  Remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a
    sumptuous brown gravy.

*. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy
clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will
help loosen grease stains.  It will also clean road haze from your windshield.
