The 40 most beautiful women in Germany ~ 1832

I was most impressed with the wonderful portraits of the 'Most beautiful Ladies in the Land'.  Kind Ludwig was quite the visual being, and loved beauty greatly.  He set out to find the most beautiful women in his kingdom, and have their portraits painted.  Up until this time, that was unheard of, to have the pictures of women that were not of royalty of means.  He found bar maids, shoemaker's daughters and simple teachers along with women of his court.

Forgive as I indulge just a bit of space to these lovely women, and their lives.  I was enchanted by their expressions, their clothing (All donated by the king) and their expressions.  These truly are beautiful women.  Many of the portraits in this day are not of handsome women, simply because only the royalty was painted.  I thought perhaps beauty didn't really exist in the same way we look at it today.  This completely changed my mind.  I'm offering only a small part of the portraits which were lining the gallery of women.

Enjoy.

Into the Towers

Entering the palace, one can get a taste of a piece of "the world of a small European Court in the 18th century. It was the summer palace of the Wittelsbach family, begun 1664 it was constantly added to, especially in the 18th century. Highlights include the Great Hall, built 1756, and the "Gallery of Beauties", comissioned by King Ludwig I (Ludwig II's grandfather). "

On To the Fabulous Nymphenburg Palace.

I'll not add a lot of photos here, for it you wish to see the place there are many places on the web to search much better photos than I could take, but here are a few shots from my daughter's camera, or my mom or sister's. I'll try and give credit where credit is due, but I claim no perfection.  Enjoy.
